Natalia Tsilinskaya, Chairman of Belarusian Cycling Federation, welcomed participants of the World Cup!
"Dear competitors, fans!
We all still remember emotions and impressions of the track cycling tournament within the programme of the 2nd European Games 2019, which were recently held in Minsk with a great success, but Minsk-Arena Velodrome once again gathers world cycling elite.
For us, organizers, and for our athletes it is a great honor and at the same time a huge responsibility to host the first stage of Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup. Because in this pre-Olympic year all without exaggeration stars of track cycling will come to the Belarusian capital to fight for rating points. And here, at home, we have no the right to disgrace ourselves.
I would like to thank the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) for their trust. The fact that Minsk for the second year in a row got the right to hold one of the largest track cycling competitions of the season testifies to the recognition of our merits by the world governing body of cycling.
We really have something to be proud of. And it’s not just about previous achievements. Gold medal of Tatsiana Sharakova, bronze medals of Yauheni Karaliok and Hanna Tserakh, as well as a number of national records at the 2nd European Games 2019 allow us to look to the future with optimism. Year by year more and more events are held in Belarus in order to develop and popularize cycling. In 2019 Minsk International Cycling Week was held for the first time in the Belarusian capital and combined such international events as road racing, Grand Prix Minsk track cycling competition and Viva Rovar cycling carnival.
I am sure that Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup I in Minsk will become a bright final chord of this year rich in cycling events. I wish all participants to show their best results on Minsk track and the fans – to get real pleasure and a lot of positive emotions from competitions of the best cyclists of the planet.
See you at Minsk-Arena Velodrome!"
