Three Belarus records Set on the First Day of the National Track Cycling Championship
A number of high results marked the first day of the Belarus Open Track Cycling Championship in non-Olympic events.
In the women's 3-kilometer individual pursuit, the victory was won by Nastassia Kiptsikava, who showed a qualifying result of 3.26.414, which became a record for Belarus. Hanna Tserakh took second place, Karalina Biruk took third place.
Among men, a record was also set in qualifying: Yauheni Karaliok covered 4 kilometers in 4.11.044, surpassing his own result by almost two seconds. But in the final Grodno racer drove a little slower, which Roman Tishkov took advantage of, snatching victory in a tense struggle. Dzianis Mazur won bronze.
In the men's 1 kilometer time trial, a confident victory went to Artsiom Zaitsau. His time of 1.00.565 is a record for Belarus. Russian newcomer of Minsk Cycling Club Nikita Kiriltsev won silver. Bronze went to Brest resident Aliaksandr Hlova.
In the women's 500-meter time trial, Varvara Basiakova won gold, ahead of Kseniya Shynkarenka and Aryna Staravoitava.
Belarus Track Cycling Championship will continue until February 29 inclusive.
